Today, U.S. Senator Alex Padilla endorsed Luz Rivas for election to California’s 29th Congressional District. Senator Padilla released the following statement:

“I’ve known Assemblywoman Luz Rivas for many years. 

We were both raised by immigrant parents who worked hard to provide us with a good education.  We both graduated from San Fernando High School and we both earned engineering degrees from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. 

Most importantly, we both came home to give back to our community through public service. Luz helped create economic opportunity for thousands of local families by starting a non-profit organization that encourages young women to pursue careers in science and technology.  As our Assemblywoman, she’s brought millions in funding for health care and education, and she passed bills that protect our local workers from extreme heat, provide services for homeless youth, and prevent plastic pollution.  

Luz Rivas is smart, she’s dedicated, and she’s a genuine public servant. She’s the Representative the Valley deserves and I'm proud to endorse her campaign for Congress.”

The 29th Congressional District includes the City of San Fernando and the City of Los Angeles neighborhoods of Arleta, Lake Balboa, Lake View Terrace, Mission Hills, North Hills, North Hollywood, Pacoima, Panorama City, Reseda, Sun Valley, Sylmar, Toluca Lake, Valley Glen, Valley Village and Van Nuys.
